Dr. Pavlak is board certified in both physical medicine and electrodiagnostic medicine. He has been practicing as a specialist for 30 years and has performed over 60,000+ electrodiagnostic consultations and studies. He is the Director of our EMG laboratory, which is the first AANEM-accredited lab with exemplary status north of Boston, MA, and one of only two in the state of Maine. He is a member of the Laboratory Accreditation Committee of the AANEM, which reviews other laboratories throughout the country for compliance and accreditation. Dr. Pavlak has made neuromuscular diagnosis his major focus and routinely evaluates patients with common conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome as well as more complicated diagnoses such as nerve injuries, "pinched" nerves from the neck or low back, peripheral neuropathies and nerve and muscle diseases such as ALS, myopathies, and unusual nerve entrapment syndromes. He maintains a close collegial relationship with academic neurologists at teaching universities where he can obtain expeditious second opinions on esoteric/unusual cases if necessary.
